I’ve decided to start a new posting challenge for myself and I hope that those of you following our blog, both family, friends and our ever-growing, new bunch of peanut allergy family friends (welcome!) enjoy it.
This will be the first of Munchie Mondays!
Every Monday, I will be posting a peanut and tree nut free munchie that our family is enjoying.
We are a family that believes in “clean eating” (with exceptions here and there), so in the spirit of that – our first munchie has only three ingredients.
Chew Chew Mama’s Banana Bites
Ingredients:
- Sliced Banana
- Sunbutter
- Enjoy Life Mini Chocolate Chips
Directions: Melt the Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips in a double boiler. Slice bananas and spread Sunbutter on each slice. Using a thin skewer, dip each banana into the chocolate and then place it onto wax paper to cool. You can mix it up and dip lots of different fruits. To add some color you can roll them in peanut/tree nut free sprinkles or coconut after dipping!
We let them cool on a wax paper lined cookie sheet in the freezer and then enjoyed them as a treat. These have earned a “delicioso” rating from the cub. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we do!
Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips are pure and delicious. We enjoy them very much because we can relax knowing they are made free of peanut or tree nuts. This is such a good feeling. Any peanut allergy family knows that chocolate can go either way due to shared processing, so it is amazing to have a source of delicious and SAFE chocolate chips.
I know some of our readers do not have a peanut allergy, but suffer from other food allergies. All of Enjoy Life products are free of the top 8 allergies (wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish and shellfish). If you have an allergy or have a friend of family member with an allergy…Enjoy Life is a good company to get to know. All of their products are allergy-friendly (and did I mention delicious).
I’ve placed the link below in case you want to check them out. We keep these stocked in our pantry. We use them for lots of baking. Some of our favorite uses include: chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, pumpkin bread, muffins, brownies, chocolate coatings and cupcake toppers…I could keep going, but instead i’ll stop and tell you to check back in next Monday!
Thanks for reading,

Something similar – We like to stick bananas on a popsicle stick and dip them in melted chocolate chips, then freeze them. Banana pops! Frozen grapes are yummy too, although a definite choking hazard for little ones. Good snack for mamas though. Ask me how I know! 🙂

Thanks for sharing, Jennie! We used to love to get Diana’s Bananas (Banana Pops) until we discovered Ben’s allergy. The company uses peanut oil in their product, so we do make them ourselves now. So yummy! Becoming a peanut free household means you become an instant baker. It’s always the safest when I know exactly what went into it.
